3 Ways to Manage Up To Your Boss
What does “managing up” mean? It means being a proactive leader! Proactive leaders experience more growth in their leadership, greater trust from their leader, and better performance reviews.
In this episode, I share 3 ways you can be a proactive leaders and manage up with your boss:
1. Keep your boss updated frequently — ask them how often they’d like status updates from you and follow through.
2. If you need to meet with your boss, send them a calendar invite after you look at their schedule. Don’t wait for them to send you an invitation or reach out to you.
3. Ask you boss for feedback. You can say something like:
“Is their anything you like me to be working on that I’m not?”
“Are my priorities aligned with yours?”
“How can I improve this idea?”
“Is my performance meeting your expectations? If not what can I do to improve?”
