DIY Lemon Coconut Sugar Hand Scrub
It’s Self Care Saturday as I write this so I’m really excited to share a new DIY I just discovered.
Since being home more, I’ve started to try to use what I have in my pantry or around the house to make things rather than to buy them. It’s really helping my bank account haha
I’m always really drawn to scents and lotions. I really love anything that smells bright, and I’m also a fan of things that make you think and feel cozy like vanillas and brown sugars.
I thought back to my high school years when we always gifted each other Bath and Body Works lotions and sugar scrubs—all. the. rage.
That made me think—I can find some things at home to make my own hand scrubs! What a better way to do some self care after a dry winter. It would even be great after a day of gardening with my hands in the dirt.
So’s my 3 ingredient hand scrub:
1/4 cup sugar (I used granulated because that’s what I have in my pantry. You can use raw too.)
2 tbs coconut oil (Super great for cooking too! I add a little to my chocolate chips when melting them to give it that shine and help it from hardening).
1/2 lemon (Squeeze for juice! You could also add anything here like essential oils or vanilla extract.)
Mix together and viola!
I massaged this on my hands for a minute or so, closed my eyes and took in the amazing aroma of the lemon and coconut. Very calming. You could do this after a bath when you’re all relaxed which your hair up in a towel while you’re in your robe…me just day dreaming of a perfect self care moment. :)
For me, lemons remind me of Italy. Everyone has a lemon tree or citrus garden. Take. Me. Back. CIAO!
